GED®
Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ Adult Education Programs offer GED® preparation classes to residents of Florida for a minimal fee. The classes are designed to help students improve basic skills and better prepare them to take the official GED® Test.
Students may enroll at any time after taking the initial required placement test. Our program is designed to help individuals learn at their own pace.
The GED® Program prepares students to take the GED® test. Passing the GED® test will result in awarding the students a State of Florida high school diploma. Florida residents, at least 18 years of age at the time of application, who perform at the ninth grade level or higher as measured by the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) are eligible to register for the GED® preparation class.
Application Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old at the time of application (students under 18 years of age must take the official GED® Practice Test and obtain an age waiver)
- Have a government issued photo ID which includes a signature, address and birthdate. A bill in the name of the candidate can be provided as proof of address if the photo does not have an address on it.
- Not be enrolled in a accredited high school unless in an approved dropout prevention program.
